Let's Calm Down With the Pumpkin-Spice Everything

Thursday, September 4, 2014

When it is so hot you must order your PSL iced, then you have a problem. Social media has been out of control with fall drinks lately. I said it last September, and I'll say it again: Fall doesn't start until September 22. Let's enjoy summer because you know that when the snowpocolypse returns, you will be wishing you could wear your favorite shorts and drink your favorite flavored-tea-lemonade drink. And while fall is my favorite season, I will save that post and my favorite flavored latte until the appropriate time dictated by whoever/whatever set that date. There will be no pumpkin-spice candles, no carmel-apple scentsy and no "Great Pumpkin, Charlie-Brown" for this girl until then.

To top off my "it's still summer even if society says you must pack away your white jeans" tangent, I now live in a state of almost perpetual summer. Which is unfortunate since I absolutely love wearing boots and scarves and pea coats. I have no idea how to dress of fall/winter in Florida. Do you forget what time of the month it is and continue to wear shorts and sandals? At least that would cut down on the amount of times you have to rotate the clothes in your closet.

In conclusion, just because Labor Day has passed and football season is upon us, remember that it is still summer and don't wish away your time from season to season because before you know it 2015 will be here.

Do you have an opinion on this issue or is it just me?

I actually have the same opinion as you. Part if it is (gasp) I don't like the pumpkin spice latte, but the other part is that we're wasting valuable summer time! Just like you, fall is my favorite season yet, while I can't wait to get to it, I don't want to rush into winter.

The science person in me says that while we still have more daylight we should really appreciate it.

As someone who lived in Florida for four years for college... yes, just keep wearing your summer clothes all year round. It might get chilly in December, and you (like I did) will absolutely rejoice at being able to wear jeans and/or boots and/or sweaters for like two weeks. Buuuuuttttt then it'll get hot again, so basically, just stick with your summer wardrobe, lol.

I feel the same way! I love summer so the fact that fall is approaching is very sad for me. Especially since I live in Canada and it's gonna get cold here very quickly! No shorts and tshirts until next June :( I wish I lived in Florida, where it's so warm all the time!

I don't think you need a particular "season" to enjoy something you love. I can eat pumpkin any time. I'm also already listening to Christmas music. Does it mean I'm not enjoying summer? No way. I'm still out at the park and doing all my normal activities. I just happen to be the kind of person that when I want to enjoy something I don't care if people think I should or shouldn't. It isn't taking something away from me enjoying summer or any other season. Shake it up a bit. People like what they like. Why does it even matter?

I am with you! I live in California and it was 100 degrees here today! I can't think about fall yet if I tried.

Exactly! Although I do love sweater weather but everything has a time and place :)

So glad I'm not alone in this belief haha!

LOL I always hated that my birthday is in January so growing up I had an abundance of cooler weather clothes as gifts but not a lot of what I wear year round. My winter wardrobe mainly consists of throwing a light jacket over my summer clothes or wearing tights with dresses and calling it good.

It's definitely wishful thinking waiting for it to come.
