Show Your Nails Some Love This Winter

Winter can wreak havoc on your nails and hands. Although I do not have to deal with the elements as much in the sunshine state, I still find that no matter how much lotion I apply my hands are always dry. During the winter, I use foot cream on my hands at night to keep them extra-moisturized throughout the day. I also always use a cuticle oil once a week to keep them from cracking.

Need some extra help keeping your hands and nails looking their best without constant visits to the salon? Julep has a step-by-step tutorial with their best winter nail-care tips.

In true Donna and Tom fashion, you should #treatyoself with regular at-home manis. There is something about Sunday nights, anticipating a new week, that makes me want to paint my nails. At least they will look good while I am typing away all day on the keyboard, Starbucks cup by my side.

Save the flamingo pink and aqua polishes for summer vacation and embrace rich jewel tones for winter. I've been obsessed with pale pink and mauve polishes recently, partly because they help elongate my short fingers. Julep has a gorgeous line of winter polishes, perfect for making all of your Elsa dreams come true.

Or if bright nails are the one thing that can help you forget about the negative temperature outdoors, then just go with it. It's always summer somewhere, right?

DIY Spa Treatments

Monday, July 22, 2013

In a perfect world, I would take weekly trips to the spa and live in a white terrycloth robe and slippers. Since this is not a perfect world and I am sporadically employed right now, I will have to put said dream on hold.

Have no fear, because the internet is full of DIY spa treatments and the following ones are tried and proven by yours truly. Why not have a grown up spa girls night in? Instead of painting your nails with every color of glitter polish and giving "makeovers" you can actually try and benefit your skin.

Who knows, maybe with the money you save on a trip to the spa, you can splurge and get the white robe, because I think it really makes all the difference. (See my post on wanting to live in a white robe, like Rachel Zoe here.)

1. Brightening Toner

1/2 cup lemon juice
1 cup water
2/3 cup Witch Hazel
Plastic bottle

Mix ingredients in the bottle. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Pat face dry. Apply toner with a cotton ball, sweeping upward and outward over your face and neck. Apply moisturizer.

2. Body Scrub

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
(if you like, you can add vanilla and honey)

Mix ingredients together. Use in the shower and rinse.

4. Listerine Foot Soak

1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup Listerine
5 cups warm water

Let your feet soak for about 10 minutes, or until the water starts to become cool. The dead skin will practically fall off and if you have a pumice stone, you can do some damage to calluses.

What is your favorite at-home spa treatment?

College students love free things.
And by free, I mean when their parents pay for things.

You learn to live without until you go home.
Haircuts are one of the things most of us forgo.

Let me tell you, unless you are traveling Europe,
four months is way to long to go without a haircut.
Somehow messy parisian hair just doesn't look right in America.

Like Samantha, I had a lot  of few split ends trimmed up
and decided to return to my "zoe deschenel" look.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
I wish i could give you a story about how i dressed up as something exciting,
and strutted my stuff looking for free candy wherever i could get it...
but alas that is not how my halloween will go down.

In fact i've been studying all week and haven't even been able to enjoy the festivities...boo :(

This is my vocab list for Entrepreneurial Management....
it's over 120 terms....blehh
I just finished taking the test and there was probably....
6 terms from this list on the test.....annoying!

Apart from the studying i was able to decorate some pumpkins last week....
by decorate i mean i bedazzled and painted them...
I did not dig into them, no no that's not my thing!!!

Aren't they cute?? :)
So since i have nothing exciting to share for halloween
i decided to share one of my new favorite online shops that i'm currently addicted to.
I hope you find it beneficial, and i hope you don't go into debt now that you know about this dreamland of a clothing store ;)
So while perusing through Pinterest i found a new store, a store that has stolen a lot of my money...
and by stolen i mean i gave it to them freely....
I'm addicted....
The store can be found here www.spool72.com
I feel like they are very vintage inspired, which i love, which is why i throw my money at them!!
They have everything you could want except for pants....
which is ok because i'm not a big pants buyer...
I mean....i wear pants....ALWAYS....but i'd rather buy a fun dress or boots...you know???

So if you're just sitting here browsing away on the inter-webs then check this store out.
You won't regret it.....unless you buy way too much and use all of your savings.
Which is called....drum roll please.....cognitive dissonance...AKA Buyers remorse
I just used one of my vocab words ;)
I'm a genius!

But really look at how cute all of this is, i can't even handle the bag in the bottom right corner
so so cute!!!!

And that sweater and THOSE BOOTS....i'm reaching for my credit card as we speak....

Did i mention it is all relatively cheap...yea, now your reaching for your credit card too....

You're welcome :)

We love finding new stores so if you know of any please share
so we can continue to be fashion forward & broke ;)

Eyebrow Envy

You know how most women are super self-conscious about their skin, their weight, or their quickly graying hair; nope. Not me.Wanna know a secret? My biggest worry happens to be my eyebrows. I am insanely jealous of those people naturally gifted with thick, luscious eyebrow hair.

See that? Not fair.
To be perfectly honest, my eyebrows really didn't show up on my face until I was 15 (#latebloomer), as they were a particularly light shade of blonde . I've tried filling them in with pencils and shadows, and was kind of okay, she had the dye in her hand considering dyeing them. In a super dramatic sense of irony, my sister happens to be one of those people with superior arched brows, so clearly I missed out on that genetic code.

Lilly & Lilly make it look so easy.

Well, there you have it; my biggest physical flaw (because otherwise, I'm perfect. Obvs.) What's yours?
