Coffee Talk

Never underestimate the power of a handwritten thank you note. Some circumstances do not favor well with an emoji-filled text or even the best designed e-card. The time it takes to sit down, write the note, find and write a street address and rummage through your desk looking for a stamp speaks volumes. Oh, and it doesn't hurt if your note cards are pretty like these from Whitney.

Have you ever wondered how to combine photos an text in photoshop? Then Jennifer has the tutorial for you.

Are you one of those people who needs to get away from the desk to be reenergized? Then perhaps a workaway is the best thing for you. Some offices offer their staff one day to work away from the office. Whether it is from home, taking advantage of the wifi at you favorite coffee shop or outdoors in the park, sometimes you need a change of scenery. This is even better for those who have a long commute. The extra time spent closer to home can help work where you're productive.

Speaking of taking advantage of wifi...Starbucks will now be introducing charging tables for all of your devices. Not having a tangle of chargers and cords in the bottom of your bag can help lighten your load. Would these make you visit more, or stay longer?

Do you dine alone? Are you absolutely opposed to the idea? I'm on the fence on the issue. I will not not try a restaurant just because I don't have someone to go with at the time. But I mostly reserve my solo dining for lunchtime.

Planning a trip to the continent anytime soon? Then you must read these cheap air travel tips from Casey. #NordicAdventure may be a go thanks to the $700/roundtrip tickets from Orlando to Oslo on Norwegian. And did I mention it's also on the new Dreamliner? Yes, please.

What you may have missed this week:

Blarg, I feel like I need even more than a workaway - I need work workouts or something! I get so fatigued sitting at a desk all day! But I do love the idea of going to a coffeeshop and doing your work. I just wish my computer had a longer battery...

I'm not opposed to dining alone either, but I'm still in the middle of 'sometimes I'm comfortable doing it and sometimes I'm not!' It's great to be able to though, and have some time to yourself.

florescent light is not my friend! And neither is a grey cube. I've decided that it's time to spruce it up a little and bring in some prettier items to maybe help me stay fresh and inspired. Since working from outside the office is not an option...dumb network shared drives haha.
