Friday Favorites: Encouragement for Twenty Fourteen

Resolutions are a waste of the paper they're written on if you aren't willing to change your habits. And, as we all know, changing your habits is much easier said than done. So much so that many of us have completely forgotten our resolutions before it's socially acceptable to wear open-toed shoes. We make resolutions in the blissful state of vacation, where everything seems possible and all our dreams are before us. And then work, school and life get in the way.

If you are determined to remove yourself from the cycle of setting goals and then not following through, here are some quotes to keep you on track and encourage you to be a better you in 2014. Whether you are wanting to be more creative, be kinder, or be a better friend, stay encouraged.

One of my favorite quotes is "Before you speak, ask yourself: is it true, is it kind, is it necessary, & does it improve upon silence?" I think this is especially appropriate with the increase of people who are posting and texting out of anger or without thinking about how their comments will affect others.

I LOVE this! All of these quotes are so true. And inspiring. I stayed away from making true tangible resolutions this year (except for reading the Bible through) and just resolved to better myself. I really hope this makes sticking to that easier. And looking at this post will help too! Happy New Year to you!!

I also love seeing quotes. I actually bought a journal just so I could add quotes to it. And I never really make resolutions. I just find one or two quotes or mottos and live by them.

Quotes are so great! I have a pinterest board dedicated to quotes because I love them so much. Especially the trend of these visual quotes.

I love them too. Somehow the message just seems to stick better.

That's kind of how I am. I have an idea of where I would like to be at the end of the year, but nothing set in stone. Too many changes can take place, both good and bad, to make resolutions kind of pointless.

that first quote you mentioned just...WOW. I'm such a chatterbug and my filter needs to be fixed...and that's the nice way of putting it. Definitely something to think about. :]
